This trip to Burkina Faso was the first field hub training workshop. The staff of Tillers International served in the role of subcontractors to accomplish a piece of this larger project. The two Tillers team members, Robert Burdick, and Dr. Elsa Kanner Acerbo were on the ground from September 2 to September 18, 2016. Dr. Tim Harrigan, from Michigan State, was on the ground from September 4 to September 10, 2016.
The Tillers team spent 3 days in Ouagadougou for meetings, then traveled west to Bobo-Dioulasso. The farmer training, which brought together smallholder farmers, local artisans, and university students to improve their yoke-crafting and animal handling practices, was conducted on the Ly family farm in Koumbia, a small town about 45 minutes east of Bobo. .
Dr. Tim Harrigan made a video of the training that can be found here: Refining Ox Power in Burkina Faso .
