Legacy Giving

Legacy giving “is a distribution from your estate to a charitable organization through your last will and testament”. According to Guidestar.org, “any individual can create a legacy gift by naming a charity on the beneficiary form of a savings, checking, or pension account; remembering a charity in a will or living trust; or using a more complex instrument such as a charitable life-income trust.”

Planned giving can positively impact both your retirement and estate plans. LeaveALegacy.org is a good starting information resource. Always contact a financial adviser before changing your plans and for more information.

Endowment

An endowment is a permanent source of funding for either a specific purpose (i.e. a scholarship) or general funds. When you endow a gift, the recipient [Tillers International] invests the full sum. Each year, a portion of the funds are paid out to support the fund’s purpose while the rest remains invested. By keeping a majority of the fund invested, the organization is able to have a self-sustaining source of funding in perpetuity.
