Blacksmithing: Hardware for the Farm
As soon as forged tools were affordable for the farm, small blacksmith shops were made available for repair, and for the custom hardware which made agricultural activities more efficient. This class will explore hinges, latches, hooks, and field implement hardware required for typical small farming endeavors. Students are encouraged to bring personal areas of interest to the class. Using simple blacksmith tools for repair will also be explored.
PREREQUISITE: Blacksmithing I and II or equivalent experience.
This is the third of Tillers’ Museum Curator Jim Slining’s blacksmithing series in 2017 .
