Bowl Turning on Spring Pole Lathe with Nathaniel Chambers
Students should come prepared to work for this three day intensive workshop in bowl turning on the foot powered spring pole lathe! Wood selection, splitting and riving out of materials, axing out blanks, and overall efficiency will be covered on the morning of the first day, and students will then begin turning their very first bowl. For the remainder of our time together students will have plenty of time to turn bowls, receive individual instruction on common mistakes and pitfalls in turning, improve on technique and, most importantly, leave with functional items made with their own hands. There will be plenty of time to discuss bowl aesthetics, design, utility, and to demonstrate making of the hooks used in turning. Students will also make their own tools if so desired.
