Complete Home Canning with Lori Evesque
The resurgence in home canning has grown along side the local foods movement. People are insisting on knowing where their food comes from as well as controlling how it is processed. Still, home canning can seem daunting – we are all taught that there are risks to canning and don’t want to cause friends and family to get sick. So, a hands-on canning class with our instructor Lori Evesque, with over 20 years of experience and training in food science is a great way to learn the basics of canning and gain the confidence to can on your own at home.
This hands-on canning class will cover all the basics: canning equipment, food safety, different methods, ingredients, microbiology, reasons for canning, recipes, and more. We will discuss water bath, steam canning, and pressure canning and when to use each method.
