Fabricating a Single-Row Planter with Dave Kramer

IMG_5621Last year, Tillers staff worked on developing several planter prototypes to test in various parts of Africa. We designed a model that can be locally fabricated with simple metal cutting tools, arc welding, and a drill press. During this class students will get a chance to see and try a variety of historical single row planters and assemble a single row planter based on Tillers’ model. Students will assist in cutting, bending, and drilling parts, and may assist in welding if they have previous experience. Students will get a set of plans for the Tillers planter at the end of the class. Dave Kramer teaches Shop at Comstock High School and is an essential Rural Innovations Specialist for Tillers.
