This fast-paced two-day introduction moves students through the fundamentals of blacksmithing: basic manual skills, heat treating, forge welding, and identification of “found” steels. Safety, tools, techniques, materials, terminology, and shop set-up will all be explored. Students will make a steel ring, cold chisel, spoon, and wall hook in this class. Bring project ideas—time allowing, students will be able to explore their own smithing interests under the guidance of our experienced instructors.
