In this workshop, we will go through various self-help tools for reducing stress, calming the monkey mind, reducing physical pain, increasing confidence, etc. There are endless situations and issues that can be addressed through these modalities.
EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique is a simple tool used to rewire the brain by tapping on acupressure points while stating the stressor. After going through a few simple steps, you can typically calm the mind/stressor within a few short minutes.
EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is another technique designed to alleviate distress associated with traumatic memories by using bilateral stimulation such as watching your hand move back and forth – which mimics the mechanics of REM sleep to neutralize the emotional response to the event.
Janey teaches a way to combine these techniques together – sort of a two for one abbreviated version that uses both eye movement and tapping. This is not a therapy session but instead gives individuals guidance through practical self-help tools to live a calmer and more peaceful life. Class participation is recommended. We will be sitting throughout most of the class but getting up, walking around, practicing deep breathing and stretching will also help to reset the mind.
