Dave is a retired shop teacher. Except for a few years running equipment at a wood milling company, Dave spent most of his life teaching woodworking, drafting, and metalworking. He has taught at secondary schools in the Caribbean, Tanzania, Uganda, and in Michigan. Dave appreciates power tools and machines, but much of his work overseas was in rural areas at schools without electricity. During that time he also learned to appreciate the skills required and the benefits of using hand tools. He has been involved with classes and programming at Tillers International since 1989. Some of his most rewarding experiences at Tillers include researching historical woodworking crafts and starting the early woodworking classes at Tillers, and working/traveling with the international programming of Tillers to help artisans in Uganda and Mozambique design and build simple agricultural equipment. Dave currently lives in Washington State, but still travels to Tillers once a year to teach a few classes.
